Where it stops. A check confirms that a person holds a document that reads as genuine and that they match its photograph. It does not screen anyone against sanctions, watchlists, or politically exposed person lists, it does not look anyone up in a government database, and it does not verify a company. Whether a check satisfies a particular obligation in your industry or country is a decision for you and your advisers.
A badge on its own changes nothing. What matters is what you attach to it, and that is yours to set.
People hand over an identity document because they are asked to. The least they are owed is that it is kept carefully, and not kept long.
The ID photographs and the selfie are used for the check and nothing else. They are encrypted, and deleted automatically fourteen days after it completes. The outcome and the record of how it was reached remain; the pictures do not.
Your colleagues see a status. They do not see somebody's identity document. Access to what sits underneath is restricted, time-limited, and logged every time it is used.
When an automated result is not clear-cut, the check is held for human review rather than thrown out, and the decision, whoever makes it, is recorded against the check.
